USS Chauncey (DD-296) is to the left behind rocks in the foreground and closest to the photographer. USS Young (DD-312) is capsized onto her starboard side, center right. USS Woodbury (DD-309) is next furthest away. USS Fuller (DD-297) is barely visible beyond the Woodbury on the other side of the rocks. Seven destroyers and 23 sailors were lost.

USS Chauncey (DD-296) is the ship closest to the photographer. Just above the stern of the Chauncey, the USS Young (DD-312) is capsized onto her starboard side. USS Woodbury (DD-309) is above the Chauncey with the USS Fuller (DD-297) is just beyond and to the left on the other side of the rocks. Seven destroyers and 23 sailors were lost.
